So if you seek intensive medical care in India, you need to apply for a medical Visa and not a tourist visa. From 15th August 2015, UK nationals have also become eligible to apply Indian e-Visa in UK to India. As a UK passport holder, you only need to apply for Indian Visa from UK.
To get an e-Visa or ETV, the applicant needs to meet a few requirements:
  • The applicant should be a citizen of the ‘eligible nations’
  • The purpose of the visit has to be for recreation, casual meeting with friends and family, attending meetings, or for minor medical treatment.
  • The applicants need to have a passport with minimum 6 months validity after the date of arrival in India. The passport needs to have two blank pages for the stamps which would be done by the Immigration Officer.
  • The applicant needs to show proof of sufficient funds for traveling to India, staying there and for the departure from India.
Applicants Who are Not Eligible for The E-Tourist Visa
  • Pakistani nationals or people with parents, grandparents, or spouses of Pakistani origin are not eligible for the Visa. Ex-citizens of Pakistan is also not eligible for this Visa.
  • Applicants who have Diplomatic/Official Passport, International Travel Document without a separate passport are not eligible for the E-Visa.

The Procedure to Apply Indian E-Visa in UK

The e-visa is granted to applicants who want to travel to India for small trips and want a visa quickly without any hassle. The e-Visa is valid in India for a maximum stay of 30 days and it is granted for single entries. The applicants have to apply for Indian Visa from UK not less than 4 days before the date of departure from the UK and they can apply a maximum 34 days before his or her arrival date. The applicants who stand as eligible for the e-Visa will receive the e-Visa in their email address 3-5 working days after the submission date.
Visa on Arrival
The Visa on arrival is not available for anyone at present. Eligible applicants who wish to travel for tourism and leisure purposes have the option of either applying for an e-Visa online or get a regular visa. In the case of e-Visa, the passport will be taken and the applicant’s biometric information will be taken after arrival at the airport. The visa will be stamped on the passport after arrival and the passport will be returned to the applicant. But the applicant needs to apply Indian e-Visa in UK 4 days before boarding the flight for India because there will be no visa on arrival.
Airports That Accept E-Visa
Not all airports will accept e-Visa but all airports having international airports accept e-Visa in India. Airports like Amritsar, Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Varanasi, Ahmadabad, Chennai, Gaya, Cochin, Goa, Jaipur, Lucknow, Tiruchirappalli, and Trivandrum. The exits can be granted from any authorized Immigration Check Post in India.
